About the Fellowship role

This is a fast-paced fundraising role that requires a high degree of ownership and initiative. You will be responsible for managing multiple donor relationships simultaneously and moving conversations forward independently. The role calls for proactive planning, timely follow-through, and strong responsiveness to donor needs. You are expected to anticipate funding requirements, prepare for donor questions, and drive next steps to maintain momentum across the fundraising pipeline. You will manage the end-to-end fundraising process with donors, while also contributing to the development of systems and processes that enable structured, strategic, and sustained fundraising efforts. 

Location: In Person - Delhi, India
Employment: Full-time, one-year Fellowship
Starting Date: June 2026
 

Key responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Acquisition

  • Proactively identifying and researching potential donors (CSR, foundations, philanthropies, institutions)
  • Initiating outreach without waiting for introductions or instructions  
  • Managing multiple donor conversations in parallel, each at different stages  
  • Moving donors from interest to commitment with clear next steps  
  • Writing proposals and concept notes quickly, clearly, and persuasively  
  • Closing grants and partnership agreements within defined timelines  

Donor-Specific Strategy & Pipeline Planning  

Develop a clear engagement strategy for each priority donor, including: 

  • Understanding donor priorities and constraints 
  • Clear objectives for the relationship 
  • Tailored messaging and asks 
  • Planned touchpoints and timelines  
  • Maintain a forward-looking pipeline plan, with defined next actions for every donor.  
  • Regularly review the pipeline to:  
    • Identify stalled conversations 
    • Re-prioritise effort 
    • Flag risks and opportunities early to the CEO 

Donor Relationship Management & Responsiveness  

  • Respond promptly and reliably to donor requests, questions, and feedback  
  • Keep donors informed proactively — not only when reports are due  
  • Maintain trust through clarity, transparency, and delivery against commitments  
  • Support renewals, extensions, and scale-up funding through strong stewardship  

Proposals, Budgets & Grant Management 

  • Draft or coordinate proposals, budgets, and donor presentations efficiently  
  • Juggle multiple deadlines without compromising quality  
  • Work closely with Finance, Programme, and M&E teams to turn inputs into fundable proposals  
  • Track donor requirements, conditions, and reporting deadlines carefully  
  • Ensure commitments made to donors are realistic and deliverable  

Reporting & Impact Communication  

  • Coordinate donor reports on time, every time  
  • Translate programme data into clear, compelling impact narratives  
  • Prepare concise updates for donors between formal reporting cycles  
  • Support Board-level fundraising materials with accurate data and insights  

Systems, Discipline & Internal Coordination  

  • Maintain up-to-date fundraising systems (donor trackers, proposal calendars)  
  • Ensure every donor has a recorded status, next step, and owner  
  • Flag delays, risks, or funding gaps early — surprises are failures  
  • Coordinate tightly with Programme, Finance, and Communications teams to keep work moving  

External Representation 

  • Lead donor meetings and external conversations independently where appropriate  
  • Participate in sector events and forums relevant to fundraising  
  • Review and advise on fundraising-related communication materials  

Requirements

Experience and education:

At Peepul, we seek talented professionals passionate about driving educational transformation and making a positive impact. We are looking for individuals who possess the following qualifications 

  • Educational Background: Master's degree in business administration, social work, public policy or related discipline.   
  • Work Experience: We value both professional and personal experience. Candidates with 8-10 years total experience managing partnerships with Indian and International donors and other stakeholders. Have a strong network of existing relationships with CSR & philanthropic organizations.  
  • Other Skills: Proven experience of negotiating with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally. Results-focused with a strong sense of ownership. Diplomatic and skilled in achieving results through influence and personal credibility.  
  • Language Proficiency:  Fluency in English required. Working knowledge of Hindi is a bonus

  • Donor conversations move forward consistently and predictably  
  • Proposals are timely, high quality, and tailored  
  • Donors experience Peepul as responsive, prepared, and professional  
  • Renewals and repeat funding increase over time  
  • Fundraising pace keeps up with programme needs  

Stipend Band – INR 20 lakhs – INR 25 lakhs per annum 

Must Haves:

  • Valid Work permit and work authorisation in India (we will not support an employment visa) 

About the LGT Impact Fellowship

As part of LGT Venture Philanthropy's and Lightrock's strategic efforts to scale positive impact, the LGT Impact Fellowship was established to provide additional know-how and capacity to portfolio organizations and companies. Each year a limited number of professionals are nominated to work full-time for one year with the organizations and companies supported by LGT Venture Philanthropy and Lightrock in Africa, India and Latin America as per the above job description.
 
LGT Impact Fellows are part of an enriching cohort of like-minded Fellows. They benefit from various program activities, including a 1-week in-person kick-off workshop, webinars, access to the network and know-how of LGT Venture Philanthropy, etc.
