About the Fellowship role
Employment: Full-time, one-year Fellowship
Starting Date: June 2025
Key responsibilities
- Developing and executing high-quality communication strategies to enhance the organisation's visibility, reputation and achievements.
- Overseeing the development and management of the communications team at Dakshin, through day-to-day management, workflow oversight, and by developing and updating a communications calendar for the organisation.
- Assist the Office of the Director and Dakshin’s fundraising team with necessary communications and design support through the communications team.
- Overseeing the generation of appropriate and compelling content for various platforms and using multiple modes, including but not limited to Dakshin’s website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and reports etc.
- Collaborating with programmatic teams to achieve communication efforts with organisational goals and initiatives.
- Providing guidance and support to the communications team, including mentoring junior staff, interns and reviewing their work.
- Overseeing the monitoring and analysis of communication metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies.
- Managing media relations activities, including cultivating relationships with journalists, coordinating interviews, and overseeing press coverage.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends to inform communication strategies and content development.
Requirements
- Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience or a master’s degree with 8 years of experience
- A reasonable understanding of topics related to ecology and environment
- Attention to detail and planning
- Demonstrable experience building communications strategies and a keen understanding and experience of various social media platforms
- Knowledge of Canva or other design software is preferred
Must Haves:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English including copy-editing and content writing skills
- Candidates must be Indian nationals
