About the Fellowship role

The Assistant Director will support the Director to strengthen the functioning of the Director’s Office and in achieving the institutional governance and growth requirements of the organisation.   

Fellowship location: Bengaluru, India 
Employment: Full-time, one-year Fellowship 
Starting Date: June 2025 
 

Key responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position include:
 
1. Assisting the Director in strengthening the functioning of the Office of the Director (OoD). 
2. Assisting the Director with institutional administration and internal governance. This will include:
  • Supervising the HR and Admin staff in the execution of their responsibilities 
  • Assisting the Director and Finance Manager with financial planning and internal reporting requirements. 
  • Coordinating between the OoD and Programme Heads to ensure timely communication of information pertaining to administration and governance. 
  • Coordinate with Senior Management and staff to oversee the implementation of internal staff policies, strengthen organisational governance and accountability mechanisms and ensure statutory compliance. 
3. Assisting the Director in donor and partner engagement, including arranging meetings, presentations, documentation, reporting and coordination. 
4. Coordinating between the Director’s Office and the communications team to oversee the completion of periodic publications such as annual reports, newsletters, organisational compliance information on websites. 
5. Supporting fundraising efforts and development of fund-raising collateral. 
6. Coordinating the engagement of Senior Management with the Advisory Board and Adjunct Fellows. 

Requirements

Experience and education:
  • A Master’s degree in any relevant subject.  
  • Excellent organisational, multi-tasking and time-management skills.  
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and coordinate with internal teams for relevant tasks.  
  • Evidence of managerial capability and ability to work independently on assigned responsibilities. 

Must Haves:
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience handling responsibilities relevant to the advertised role
  • Excellent written and spoken English   
  • Candidates must be Indian nationals
